Game of Thrones Season 8 - For The Throne

On Tuesday, November 13, HBO confirmed what we guessed all along. The eight and final season of Game of Thrones will start on April. Our guess wasn’t more than a guess. We don’t know the director or have any of the actors on our speed dial. But looking on the past 7 seasons of Game of Thrones, 5 of those, started on April. Only season 3 and season 7 didn’t start in April. Actually, season 3 started March 31 which is like 3 hours away from April. Therefore, guessing season 8 of Game of Throne will start April 2019 was 50% past dates and 80% wishful thinking (and probably 0% math :-)). We set our Game of Thrones countdown to April long time ago and obviously when the exact date will be released, we will update the countdown timer as well. You can get this countdown on your Alexa and Google Home as well.

HBO announcement came well designed with a short clip and a hashtag. The clip, which you can watch below, is 1:15 minutes long and does not reveal any new information. Nevertheless, it get us, the fans, very emotional and excited for the next and final season. The clip starts with Cersei’s famous quote “when you play the game of thrones you win or you die”. The short clip includes many of the most memorable scenes from Game of Thrones as well as many deaths. 

In addition to the announcement of the month and the teaser clip, HBO also started a new hashtag craziness. The hashtag is #ForTheThrone which summarize every battle, every death, everything that was done in the show, was for the iron throne. As expected, #ForTheThrone is gaining momentum on twitter and building up our expectations for the new season.
